System of Vehicle Control - 12 Examples
What is the System of Car Control?
The System of Car Control is the sequence by which a driver, approaches a HAZARD when driving. A HAZARD is anything dangerous or potentially dangerous that a driver may encounter (e.g. a roundabout, speed bump, overtaking manoeuvre, intersection, accident scene, sharp bend etc) - in short, anything which would or could interrupt your progress.
By correct application of the system, the vehicle will always be:
• in the RIGHT PLACE on the road,
• travelling at the RIGHT SPEED, and
• with the RIGHT GEAR engaged.
The System of vehicle control generally follows the formula below for an instructor guiding a learner driver:
(1) give the direction
(2) check mirrors
(3) signal
(4) adjust speed and position
(5) gears and mirrors
(6) evasive action, accelerate
